Installing the SOCFortress endpoint and accessing the SOCFortress platform

Intro
Upon registering for the SOCFortress 30 day free trial, you will receive an email that contains details to access your platform and a command to install the endpoint software onto the endpoint of your choice (not recommended for production servers).
Endpoint Software Installation
Installing the endpoint software is as easy as copying the command line required for your OS (Linux or Windows) and pasting into either a shell (Linux) or Powershell (Windows). Must be ran as root (Linux) or Administrator (Windows). These commands will authenticate with our backend to grab and run the installation scripts.
Linux
The SOCFortress endpoint has been tested on the below Linux Distros
- Ubuntu (16.04 +)
- Centos (7 +)
- Debian (8 +)
- FreeBSD (11 +)
- Amazon Linux
- Rocky Linux
The customer code and API key are obfuscated in the screenshot below.
On average, the install takes roughly around 2 minutes. Upon a successful install, you will see the below output.
Windows — CUSTOM EXE NOW PROVIDED, UPDATE COMING SOON
The SOCFortress endpoint has been tested on the below Window’s Versions
- Windows 7 and Above
- Windows Server 2012 and Above
Open PowerShell as an Administrator and paste in the Windows install command.
On average, the install takes roughly around 4 minutes. Upon a successful install, you will see the below output.
User Credentials
SOCFortress implements OAuth for user access. Once authenticated, your OAuth token will be passed to all SOCFortress applications.
- Navigate to https://myservice.socfortress.co/login and select “Sign in with OAuth
2. Enter in the username and first time password provided in your “Welcome to Your Free Trial” email.
3. Enable 2 Factor (Google Authenticator used in the below step)
4. Create your new password (8 character minimum, at least 1 Upper, and at least 1 Special Character required)
5. Verify your email
Once verified, head back over to https://myservice.socfortress.co/login and select “Sign in with OAuth”. Enter your newly created credentials and see your alerts begin to populate your dashboards.
